I use Gain plus 20 Mule borax, I set the washer up for an extra rise I have also tried baking soda. I'm note ready to throw everything out and start over. HELP MEWhat can I do for my bath towels, they smell moldy when I dry off?
I haven't tried alot of things, but I wash my towels in warm or hot and I use regular bleach. The bleach kills the germs that cause the smell. Some towels bleach out, others don't. Depends on the brand and color. I would like to see a better answer to this problem than bleach, but until I do, I would rathar have bleached out towels than smelly towels (and body). What can I do for my bath towels, they smell moldy when I dry off?
I'VE HAD THAT EXPERIENCE.I USED A FABRIC SOFTNER BUT I PUT IT IN AS SOON AS I PUT IN THE CLOTHES TO WASH.ITS A CHEAP SOFTNER TOO(FLUFFY).TRY IT .MY CLOTHES COME OUT FRESH SMELLING ALL THE TIME.GOOD LUCK.
Get some oxyclean and let the towels soak for awhile when you are washing (don't close the lid, just let the machine fill-up with water). Let thme soak for about 30mins then close the lid.
Only use bath towels 5-7 days and then wash them.
get soe new towels.. they shouldnt smel bad.. or just get a new detergant. that should work. use tide with bleach for colors
I heard that when you wash your towels, try adding some vinager in with the wash, in addition to the Gain.
Always get white towels and wash clothes and always use bleach...you'll never have a problem.
You probably have colored towels. Once they get that moldy smell, I know of no way to remove it. Washing does not help. Well, as you know, it helps but as soon as it gets wet again, the smell is back, right?
Chuck 'em and start over. Get white towels and beach them.
I don't think it is the way you wash them or what you use to wash them with! I think you just need to empty the lint screen from the dryer and make sure they are completely dry before you store them in the closet.
If this is a new dryer or you just moved into a new house, confirm that the exhaust vent of the dryer is not plugged up.
Good luck!
Did you try one of the new fragrance fabric softeners? Also try washing them in hot water and use a non chlorine bleach. If possible, hang them up to dry in the sun. That is the absolute best scent in the world.
Wash them with Tide in hot water.
DOWNY
If you wash your towels on a high temp 60c-90. and use a fabric softener, also if you use your towel more than once make sure it has plenty air to dry, damp towels always have that moldy smell if not dried properly
Bleach and hot water is the answer. It sanitizes them thoroughly and kills any mold. Also, make sure they are completely dry before putting them in a cabinet. If they are put away slightly damp, they will get moldy. Yes,bleach will wash out the color eventually but I'd rather have clean towels than perfectly colored ones.
Use a dryer sheet in the dryer such as bounce, snuggle etc..
It works.
well 4 1 thing u can wash them! and then use them!!
