How do you eliminate bath towel lint. I am not using fabric softner. Lint is all over the bathroom.?

A fabric softener sheet should do it. The only other option I can think of is to buy cheaper towels - may produce less lint. How do you eliminate bath towel lint. I am not using fabric softner. Lint is all over the bathroom.?
I think you answered your own question. Use fabric softner. I use liquid on clothes and the sheets on my towels. Liguid seems to rebel water from your towel when you dry off. Sheets do keep the lint in control.

I am creating a hope chest for the day i move out and i want to be ready. I was on macy's website and i cant decided what type of towel i should get?Whats is the best bath towel to buy?
I highly recommend Pike Street 100% Egyptian Cotton

I have purchased these towels before and have now come back for some more. They are large, soft, thick and very absorbent. Even the hand towels are a good size. You won't find a better deal for the money. Just remember that they are much more absorbent if you do not use fabric softner on them!

Is it ok to use a bath towel for my guinea pigs bedding?

if i cover the surface with a bunch of toys will that help?Is it ok to use a bath towel for my guinea pigs bedding?
ITS DEFINATELY OK TO USE A TOWEL AS BEDDING!!! i have two guinea pigs, and i used to use towels. now i use fleece, though. it was very much better than aspen or pine shavings. its easy to kleen too! just empty it out, in the trash then wash it in the washer. dont use fabric softenr though... u can use soap, but fabric softner is bad for the pigs...Is it ok to use a bath towel for my guinea pigs bedding?
Eww. Just change the cage like everyone else does. Yes, it's a little bit more work, but a pet is a responsibility.
i guess it is but it might bite the little fuzzy and it could probably get stuck in its throat!! So be careful or you can just go to google and see some other safe beddings!!
Sure you can. Fuzz is no problem.

I've never seen a guinea pig play with a toy. Strange.
It is ok, but that bath towel will get REALLY dirty. Insanely.....
yes but fleece would be much safer

How many washes does hotel do for bath towel until it changes to a new towel?

    Usually hundreds.

Depends on the quality of the towel and

    how they wash them.

We never ever bought new towels just because they had been washed or used so many times. They were only replaced when they were looking sad and lost their fluffiness. How many washes does hotel do for bath towel until it changes to a new towel?
At the hotel I worked in, they would wash and use towels as long as they looked good. Once a towel got a rip or a hole, it was cut up and used for cleaning towels. The same was done for washcloths and such. Because new towels are being added into the old towel mix, and some towels suffer more ';abuse'; than others, it can't be said for certain how many washes a towel will go through before being discarded. How many washes does hotel do for bath towel until it changes to a new towel?
It probably depends on the quality of the towels they use. Different hotels use different qualities.
It prob depends on the hotel

What is the difference between washcloth, hand towel, bath towel and bath sheet?

what exactly do you use them for? What is the difference between washcloth, hand towel, bath towel and bath sheet?
Size and how you use them.

Wash cloth is the smallest and is used with soap to wash parts of your body.

Hand towels are usually hung beside the sink to dry your hands after you've washed them. You left out fingertip towels but these aren't used much these days; they were a bit smaller than the hand towel and often were called fingertip towels or guest towels. In much more formal days these were used in guest bathrooms for visitors.

Bath towels dry your body off after you've soaped and rubbed it with a wash cloth and rinsed the soap off.

Bath sheets do the same thing as bath towels but they're much larger. Many large people like them because they've got more skin to dry but for all sizes of people they wrap around you after a shower and stay in place by tucking a corner in much better than a bath towel.

In the kitchen dish cloths are used to wash dishes and wipe down counter-tops. Dish towels generally are cotton, with little lint, that are used to dry dishes and counter-tops. Kitchen towels are used to dry hands in the kitchen. What is the difference between washcloth, hand towel, bath towel and bath sheet?
Wash cloth--small square...I use it to wash my face between showers.

Hand towel--small rectangle...I use it to dry my hands.

Bath towel--large rectangle...I use it to dry my shower (I use a terrycloth robe to dry my body).

Bath sheet--extra large rectangle..useless, unless you're a giant. Can also be used for a beach towel.
Washcloth's for me is when you are cleaning something, Handtowel's for me is drying your hands off or just for decoration, bathtowel's for me is when u get out of the shower, or tub, and you dry off with a bathtowel, and bath sheets are only regular bed sheets
A hand towel hangs by your sink to dry your hands after washing them, a wash cloth is what you use to bathe with, a bath towel is what you dry off with...and I don't think I've ever heard of a bath sheet
    Wash with washcloth.

  • How many days do you leave a bath towel up?

I get rid of a bath towel the minute I dry my body with it. I also never use a bath towel to dry my hands on if its in someone elses house. Why? because someone may have used that towel to wipe their rear end on.

I am very picky about my linens A bath towel which is sitting there damp is a natural agar for bacterial growth. It is calling the bacteria to come and set up housekeeping on it. Using a bath towel more than once is just grose. I shower every morning before I leave for work and in the evening when I get off. I am not obsessive compulsive, I just work with a lot of pts who have infectious diseases.

Hepatitis can stay on an inanimate object for up to 3 days.

IHow many days do you leave a bath towel up?
Uh. Zero. I use them once, then wash them, and put them in the dryer.

Then the cycle starts all over again. How many days do you leave a bath towel up?
One use only unless you have a vent right below the towel bar. Do you have any idea how much mold and mildew there is on a used towel? It stinks after 2 uses.

    blech
    2
I leave it up about two to three days.
I used to use it twice, then changed my mind once i realized i might be drying my face off with the part of the towel i dried my butt crack off with the day before. ew lol. so i use a different towel every morning.
I use the bath towels 2- Times
    8 or 10 days
each of us uses 1 towel each for 1 week and then we wash them

you really are drying off a clean body and if you hang it up the right way you wont get a yucky smell/
I wash them after I use them once.
If I have use of my private bathroom, 4-5 days for drying towel. About 2 days for hand towel. If I am sharing a bathroom, then 1 use for the drying towel.
If it's a hand towel, maybe 3-4 days; if it's a shower/bath towel that you use to dry yourself with, 2 uses tops!
3-4 if i hang it up everytime

How many times do you use a bath towel before washing it?

Once. Think about it---the towel goes all over and under your body wiping away skin cells and bacteria. Would you want to put it to your face afterwards? That's why I buy only white high quality cloths and towels, so they can withstand all the washing and bleaching I put them through. How many times do you use a bath towel before washing it?
5 daysHow many times do you use a bath towel before washing it?
    i never use a bath towel i prefer to ';air dry';
I will usually use a bath towel about a week before washing it. Seems to make sense, because I'm clean when I towel dry.

Important: hang the towel to dry in between uses. Don't bunch it up or leave it in a heap.

As long as your towel dries thoroughly between uses, it won't start smelling very soon or accumulate odor-causing bacteria.
    Twice
Sorry lol i use a new one every day! I've got it like that!!!!!!!!!
I wash my towels weekly. I use two one for the gym and another for home. The one that I use for the gym i have to wash about 3 times a week. It depends on the person, but everyone should wash it at least once a week.
1 week, or until it starts smelling funny.
2-3 times is okay. Just hang it up to dry after each use, to avoid mildew.
    Twice.
The answer to this question would depend on the person that is answering your question. As for myself I may use a towel 2 times,as long as the towel doesn't have any bodily fluids on it and did not have a foul smell to it. If you use a towel when you work out at the gymn and wipe sweat on it, I would only use the towel once. If you are a female and get blood on the towel I would not reuse the towel.
3-7 days. or when it starts smelling ..
One of my phobias. I only use it once as there are other people in the house and just the thoughts of someone else using it drives me crazy.
I wash them after every bath......
I'm single so it can be weeks. With a family I'm sure that dirty hands are being wiped on them and it should be done every few days.
I will use it once because their are other family members in the house who will come in and dry their hands on anybodys towel, but if i lived by my self, and i love long soaks, i would use it twice with an hang dry in between.

Why do people wash bath towels?

Aren't they used on the cleanest thing there is, a freshly washed body? Why do people wash bath towels?
But....they get wet all the time and then they smell like Mildew!!! PLus, you dry your bum with them and then your face. You can only get your bum so clean before you wonder what will grow with two weeks of moist, somewhat clean bum germs. Why do people wash bath towels?
Just think of all the dead skin that bath towels wipe off of your body after you shower. And then think of all the parts of your body that you dry. Hopefully that will make you want to wash your towels regularly.
yes, but eventually it gets dirty, just try it and see, don't wash it for like a month, and keep smelling it and you;ll see it won't have that fresh smell it once had when you first washed it.,,lol!
Touch and smell one you've used for a month and then do the same with one that came out of the washer and dryer and then tell me which one you'd rather use.
because after you take a shower, you don't completely take all the dirty away from you and besides, they get dirty with the dust in the environment.
Just because........ Think of all the places you put your towel...... wouldn't you want to wash it at least once in a while.... Nothing like a towel fresh in off of the clothes line that we use here in the trailer park!!!!!
because if you have a wet towel laying around for too long it will start to mildew.. and then if you use it, you'll smell. and then you will just have to shower all over again. endless cycle. best to wash!
Because whilst drying dead skin cells come off the body as well as they usually don't get dry all the way before mildew sets in and they begin to stink.
Because there's certain mineral in shower water from our bodies that can lead to fungus- not a nice way to get clean lol. Not many people know this though so they're probably just trying to be clean...
not if you live were i live....

with a dirty 80 something year old grandmother who uses it to wash her sh!tty @ss or hands.

and its put on other peoples faces.i like having my own personal towel.
Because even though you're clean when you use them, bacteria will still grow on the towel....ewwww....
Because they get dirty like everything else.
its cuz when other people use your towels their like ';hmmmm...she had to wipe some weird areas'; so it just makes people feel better when you wash them
Because thay get dirty and thay moled and then thay stink!
Yeah, but there are germs that you're wiping off with your towel.

Not washing those is just plain grody!
Do you want to get mold on your body.
Because they will begin to smell after you use them.
they get wet and if you don't wash them they get moldy and mildewy.. yuck!!! :P'''
they get wet a lot and sometimes don't dry fast and they get stinky...but good question ;)
Ewww, when you dry off dead skin collects in the fibers. And I just ate lunch too!
yes but its just better to wash them.
hmmm ive never thought about it

maybe its because if they fall on the floor or something
    I guess they would.
    A very good point.
yep but after a while they have got wet and dried and needs to at least smell clean
because they get sour after you leave them out wet after a couple of days.
coz they start to smell bad after a while
    why not??
    cuz they get smelly!
uh...why not? wouldnt YOU want a clean towel?

Folding bath towels into an animal.?

There was a commercial a while back about a hotel..I forget which one. But, in the commercial they displayed a puppy dog that was made by folding towels. I really want to learn how to make animals out of towels especially the one of the puppy. Does any one know a good website on this subject or can anyone show me how to do it. I've tried looking for some websites but had no luck. Thanks.Folding bath towels into an animal.?

Are Canopy bath towels a good brand?

i have washed and dried 5 times. there is still lint all over me after i use them. just wanted to know what others thought of this brand and how long will i have this annoying problem?

ThanksAre Canopy bath towels a good brand?
It's normal for new towels to shed lint, make sure to wash them separate this way the lint will not transfer to the rest of your laundry, it takes a while to git rid of lint but it will eventually happen , if they are 100% cotton ,make sure to clean the lint trap of your drier every time.

How do I remove mold/mildew odor from a bath towel?

I only have problem with this one towel...should I throw it away or is there a remedy to get it out of the fabric? It smells!!How do I remove mold/mildew odor from a bath towel?
A large number of disinfectant sprays are available to consumers that reduce and prevent mildew. Since mildew is a fungal outbreak, any cleaning product that sufficiently inhibits fungal growth, or destroys surface fungi, will probably clear your little problem right up. I use Lysol brand disinfectant sprays to keep things mildew-free around my place (shower curtains get it bad). After treating your towels, be sure to wash them. The disinfectant itself has a very ';hospital'; smell to it, and I find it unpleasant. Once it has dried, the job is done and you can launder them normally.

A cheaper method for objects like towels is to wash a load of them all together and add a cap of bleach to the water. Bleach kills mildew fungus and will leave less strange odor afterwards. So long as you don't put a huge amount - or add it directly onto the towels, you will be fine lightly bleaching colored towels.

As some collateral advice, I'd suggest that you hang your towels spread as flat as possible. My towels only get mildew odor when they are piled on the floor, or when they are hung all bunched-up or overlapping. If there is adequate ventilation, mildew isn't as quick to form. How do I remove mold/mildew odor from a bath towel?
If it was me, I may just throw it away, but if you are really attached to that towel, here's what you can do.

Fill your washer to its lowest water level (or just fill the kitchen sink) with hot water, and add a cup of white vinegar. Put the towel in and let it soak for ~30 mins, then add the soap and wash as usual. If that doesn't work, you can try it again, adding slightly more vinegar, a half cup at a time.

You may want to test some diluted vinegar on a corner of the towel, if it's dark, just to make sure it won't bleach the fabric, but it shouldn't.

    Good luck!
Wash it by itself with bleach. If the towel is color, use 1/4 the amount of bleach. It may fade a little, but the chlorine bleach will kill the mildew and get rid of the smell.

Dry it with a fabric softener sheet afterwards.

    Good luck!
If washing it in hot water does not eliminate the odor, you should throw it away. It is growing bacteria and molds that aren't healthy for you. If it can be bleached, try that--it kills mold.
Its not worth the crazy amount of work to get the stink out. If it were white you could wash it in a very bleachy wash by itself, then rinse with vinegar. If its colored there is not much hope. I would chuck it if I were you
You can try soaking in bleach water, but it will remove the color (if any) out of the towel... it's probably easiest to just throw it away and buy a new one.
Wash them in hot water. i use Tide with color safe bleach. And here is the real secret--Us OXI Clean. I use oxi with all my laundry. It works great. I left a load of towels in the washer once.
Add one cup of white vinegar to your laundry. You may have to do it twice. I do this all the time and it works well.
i would throw it away but you could also try bleach. if its a colored towel try the bleach for colors.
If it's white bleach it, if it's colored try washing it with hot water twice and adding some downy to the last wash.
dont keep you want a towel on your skin that had mold on it

towels are freakin 5 cent (exaggerating) but let it go
Try washing it in very hot water, %26amp; using bleach %26amp; detergent. If that doesn't work, toss it.
wash with hot water, plenty detergent, add some bicarb of soda and rinse thoroughly, try and air dry outside
throw it away before it spreads to other things.
    I would throw it out.
wash it in cold water with detergent and 2 cups of vinegar. it works great
    Throw it away!
i would throw it away and dont worry about it

Is 6 sets of towels (bath towel, hand towel, washcloth) too many to register for?

For bridal shower? It would total 18....3 colors, 2 sets of eachIs 6 sets of towels (bath towel, hand towel, washcloth) too many to register for?
if you'll have the storage space then go for it cuz you can NEVER have enough towels.

-for guests, for ones that get bleached, for mopping up the floor when your kids replicate a hurricane while taking a bath etcIs 6 sets of towels (bath towel, hand towel, washcloth) too many to register for?
It's the perfect amount, if you have one bathroom. For each bathroom, you should have 2 sets of towels to be in use (one for you and one for hubby), 2 sets in the closet and 2 sets in the laundry. For 2 people, you should have 6 sets (per bathroom)!

By the way, that's how to calculate how many sheet sets to register for, too (1 set for on each bed, 1 set for each bed in the closet, and 1 set for each bed in the laundry).

    Hope this helps!
I agree with whoever said you can never have too many. If you look at it this way, one set each for your husband and you per day...so that's only 3 days worth. The place I registered at wouldn't allow ';sets'; so I had to register for each individually (8 bath sheets, 8 hand towels, 8 washcloths). I ended up with almost 3 times that amount (not complaining, it was great!) b/c my towels were on sale the week before my shower. So, no that isn't too many to register for.
Well if you registered for what you need in your home then no! I registered for 2 towels 2 hand towels and 2 washclothes in 3 different colors that match my house. If people buy them then great, if not it's no big deal go buy them when you get money from your wedding. It doesn't matter how much you register for, you are only going to get what people buy you. So no I don't think that is too much.
What is really important here???? ';in the future'; you undoubtably will have MISMATCHED TOWELS! Who cares!

I dont care if the bathrooms have mismatched towels, as long as they are clean. There are a whole lot of other places to put your attention...towels are trivial. Solid pastels, or solid jewel tones? I would love what ever the person picked out! Because THEY chose it. Sometimes the registrys seem to be more important than the ceremony, and celebration.
Honey, take from an ol' married fart, when it comes to husbands you can NEVER have too many towel sets..lol

..and if they are all the same color your bathroom will always look pulled together rather than a whole bunch of dif colored towels..or if you like the contrast pick two colors and take the time to designate the manufacturer and style...that way you avoid mis-matches...good luck.
Towels are always needed, so no, not too many. I would actually register for more bath towels than that. You may want to register for some plain white washcloths also, if you use them for taking off makeup or cleaning, you can bleach them when you wash them.
That is how many we registered for. I think it is a good number. Plus, sometimes they stop making that color in that brand so that way you don't have mis-matched towels in the future if you ever needed to buy more.
Go ahead if this is what you want. The only thing you have to do is to have enough hangers in the bathroom to accommodate 2 sets. I have the same in my bathroom and my husband and me know our hangers and never mix it up..............
I registered for 8 sets. So that we can do laundry loads of 4 sets each...and when we have guests, they can have nice towels too. So no, I don't think it's too much...I would register for 1 more set.
Nope it is ok to register what what ever you want. If that is what you need or want in your household then by all means get it. Some people don't realize how much stuff you need to pull home together!
You can register for as many as you want...you may get all or none. Registering for something doesn't ensure you will get it, it just shows people what you'd like to have.
I dont think 6 sets of towels is too many.

But chill, My Opinion is just trying to get a rise out of you (and every other person who asks a question here), no need to get upset hun!
It's YOUR registry, register for whatever you want. If you know that you want them, like them, and know that you're going to use them, what does it matter?
You can register for 100 sets. It doesn't mean people will buy them for you.
no - I don't think that's too many --- I agree with the ';old married fart'; ( lol :) that's too funny) - you can never have too many towels - you'll use them for guests and stuff like that.
You can never have too many towels.
I don't think so. I mean most people probably have four of each, especially once they have children.
Not if you know you're going to use them all and not just keep them in your linen closet.
Depends on teh price. Or can you register for each size seperatly?
who puts towels on hangers? don't most people just fold them?

To answer your question, it's a fine amount
nope cuz when you have kids you will go thro towels like crazy lol

What to do w/old bath towels?

Hello! Anyone know what to do with old bath towels (even after a wash there's still some smell on it)? What to do w/old bath towels?
If you want to reuse it as a bath towel you can remove the odor by adding borax to the load or baking soda, both eliminate smells and work well. If you are asking for other uses, there are many. I use them for the dogs when giving them a bath or to wipe their paws when they come in from outside, cut them up into rags, use them on painting projects, sew them into 3 x 5 squares with one open side to use as washcloth mits, use them to buff silver after polishing, and cut them to fit items I use as accessories but have rough bottoms that could scratch furnitureWhat to do w/old bath towels?
Did you use bleach in the hot detergent water? that helps a lot to get rid of smells.

If they are going raggedy, fold and stitch binding on them for hot mats and pan holders.

use two or three together and stitch binding on them and call them mud rugs for the front door.

I have stitched them into tubes and filled them with a blend of sand and kittly litter to catch drafts and leaks when it rains hard.

Use a nice scented fabric softener and it may cut the odor from them.
Bleach them (if they're old it doesn't really matter if you lose the color) or if you want to just get rid of them donate them to a shelter or local kennel where they groom dogs
If any of the other answers don't work, I have old towels I use for packing delicate items and to wash the car with.

try arm n hammer detergnt. mayb some fabric softner or ecowise dry them outside in the sun.
use Tide detergent w pleasant odor added to it just pick one
you need to add some more soap to it. i prefer liquid detergent.

Can i dye my bath towels? they're white and show every tiny little mark!!!!?

Yes you can, IF there are 100% cotton (synthetics don't take dye well) and you have a top loading machine (or else you have to use the stovetop method). I've used the liquid Rit dye with good results (not so with the powder) and use twice the amount of dye for their weight, for the most color saturation. One other hint, be certain to set the dye in the rinse cycle with either white vinegar or salt, particularly if you are dying them a dark color, and then use vinegar in the rinse water the first few times you launder them so they don't bleed or fade. Can i dye my bath towels? they're white and show every tiny little mark!!!!?
Yes, you can. I have done some very successfully, I use a dye that just goes straight in the machine. The only thing to watch, from my experience, is sometimes the stitching doesn't dye if it is synthetic, but this has only happened once to me - I was using a cheap value towel and dyed it black, the stitching stayed white, but this was no problem to me - it still works as a towel! Better quality towels stitching should be fine!

Remember, though, to stick to the recommended weights, since too much fabric can lead to lighter colours or uneven dying. Also, wash separate the first couple of washes. After a few washes should be OK, but maybe wash with something you don't mind too much if it gets dyed - an old white cloth or something, maybe. Can i dye my bath towels? they're white and show every tiny little mark!!!!?
you can and you can use the Rit powder dye if you take the time to prepare properly.

To use powder dye, take an old glass jar with tight fitting lid, add very hot tap water and stir the dye powder in with either an old spoon that you don't mind throwing away or a stick.

then put the lid on , and shake the jar.

Remove the lid, cover the mouth of the jar with old panty hose and strain the dye into the pre filled washer ( water only). Then allow the washer to agitate for a couple of minutes before adding the wet towels.

This straining step helps to eliminate the speckle problem that can

occur when you use the powder dye and adding the dye to the water in the washer helps prevent splashing which can cause staining on the washer and you.

You should also add salt to the dye bath as it will help deepen and set the color. You might also want to wash the towels separately for a while until you're sure that they aren't bleeding.
yeah, i have done that a couple of times over the years. You can get dye for the washing machine.Follow the instructions-it's easy. Just make sure you run an empty wash through afterwards to make sure you have got rid of it all and wipe round the door rim and inside the rubber seal.

Cotton bath towels dye really well.
Yes I dyed mine when they got a bit older, they took really well, I bought a dylon dye and put it in the washing machine, dont forget to put salt in as this sets the dye and stops it running in the next wash, they came our brilliant, I have also dyed sheets, duvets and undies all really easy and succesfull
If they are white you could bleach them to get them extra clean. They will also smell nice and fresh.

I think that white towels are the best, they look so crisp and clean--reminds me of being in a hotel.

Plus, white goes with any kind of decor and you don't have to worry about fading or bleeding like you would if the towels were dyed.

    Just a different perspective.
yes you can but they will need a lot of dye - regardless of the salt suggestion they will always leak a bit of colour so have to be washed

separately. depending on the weight number of towels and value , you

may find it cheaper to buy some new ones - and keep those for

    guests!
    Sure you can!!

Just make sure you get the right amount of dye for the weight of your towels, because otherwise it will come out all wishy washy or patchy.

I use those dyes that you can put in a washing machine. They're really good and there is a good choice of colours.

Why do we wash bath towels.? arnt we clean wen we use them?

you are clean, but the act of drying off removes dead cells from the surface, which cling to the towel. I personally shower several times a week and wash my towel just once every 2 weeks. Why do we wash bath towels.? arnt we clean wen we use them?

Mildew? its a type of mold that grows quickly in fabrics when wet..

and because everyone likes to use a clean bathtowl, well at least i do. :)
When you dry your body the towel gets wet, right ?

    Mold, mildew..

And when you dry your skin dead skin cells get sloughed off on the towel...ewh..

Home Design Bath Towels...where can I find this brand??

I got purple towels w/a tag ';Home Design'; made in the USA. They are pretty. With a ribbon around them. However, we have NOTHING purple in our apartment. All towels are red in one bathroom and blue in another so I was hoping to take these back. HOWEVER...the box they were given to us in are NOT the store that carries this brand. (JC Penney's). ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND THIS BRAND? What STORE carries these? I feel bad it's pointless keeping them. We have ENOUGH towels now!Home Design Bath Towels...where can I find this brand??

Do you use your bath towel more than once?

If yes, how many times before you wash it?Do you use your bath towel more than once?
Yes, I do use my towel more than once.

After I use it I put it over the shower thing and then the next day I use the same one.

I put it in the washer after about 2 to 3 days after my first use.

    Its not bad at all.

what AFwife said~ I agree with her...
no, its best to have a clean one every bath or shower
yes, only two times then I wash.
I mostly use towels as a wrap/bathrobe type thing, I don't pat down with it, and then I wrap my hair in a turban...so I use two per shower but I reuse them several times if I remember to hang them up on the shower curtain rod. I am also notorious for leaving my damp towel on the bed. I really should do better.

I do have a minimum of towels. I recently pared down with the goal of reusing them, I don't run out and I don't wash every single day. 6 bath towels, 3 hand towels, and 6 washcloths but I use a poof most of the time in the shower.

Acne may be a good reason to use a fresh towel everytime. You can also help with this by skipping the fabric softener in your clothes, using vinegar instead...a great fabric softener, just get the downy ball and fill it each load with cheapo white vinegar. And use detergent that doesn't irritate which can aggravate acne. The less chemical residues for your skin, the better.

Another item to switch out every use if you have serious acne is PILLOWCASES.
My husband and I use ours for 3 showers. We hang them up opened all the way so they dry fully. When our son was a newborn we used a clean towel every time for him, but he is 2 now and I use his twice.
No I don't. :-) Get a fresh one every time
    one to two times
i use mine twice, after i get out of the shower i figure i'm clean so i dry off and hang the towel, the next day i use it again and throw it in the laundry afterwards
I don't have any I just drip dry
i use bath towel one time a day becuz of my acne problem,
if it just for my face,I'll use it more than once, other wise toss it.
I use it about 3 times.

What is the ';proper'; way to fold a bath towel to go on a shelf?

I'd love to hear from you if you fold a lot of them. What is the ';proper'; way to fold a bath towel to go on a shelf?
Believe it or not, the first ';fight'; my husband and I had after we were married was about how to fold a bath towel!

Wasn't much of a fight, really ... just that his mom had done it differently than MY mom ... and I guess we like what we're used to!

Anyway, here's how I do it ... I fold it lengthwise first, so that I have a very long rectangle. Then fold the rectangle in half, then in half again ... to end up with a square (approximately). This is because of the depth of my shelves.

If my shelves were deeper, I would fold the long rectangle in thirds ... I think it looks nicer. What is the ';proper'; way to fold a bath towel to go on a shelf?
Fold it in half length wise. Now do it again. Now overlap both end to the middle (tri fold)
Fold it so it will fit on the shelf neatly.

i know some people like a fresh one everyday... um my nasty *** brother will go a month if noone washes his. lol... what about you? :)How often do you change your bath towel?

everyday.... i dont like to share it either... we all have our own... i wash them about 2xs a week and with clorox ...
use it once toss it in the hamper.....
    every day
Every third day as long as no one uses someone else's.
In this house every one has their own towels. I tend to freak if someone uses mine--(nothing like drying your face off with a towel that dried someone elses privates) ughk!!

I wash my towels once a week.
every time i take a shower....i think its disgusting if you, use the same one over again..
They usually get changed once a week, perhaps more frequently in summer, and then washed when there's enough to make a full load.
every second shower i will wash mine.

How can I kill the mildew odour on a bath towel?!?!?

wash it in bleach. every time you use the towel, you should hang it to dry and not throw it on the floor. that way it doesn't mildew. How can I kill the mildew odour on a bath towel?!?!?
I agree you should hang the towel to dry after use and only use at the most for 2 or 3 days. The body still has bacteria and drying yourself sluffs this off onto the towel.

Bleach is good, but you do not need alot. Oxyclean is great. I use some in all of my laundry.

I start the water (and you have to at least use warm, but hot is better) add the oxyclean, detergent and a small amount of bleach. I make sure the products are distributed into the water before I add the towels.

Do not over crowd them. Take them out as soon as you can.

I hang my laundry, but not towels. They can be hung, but need to be thrown in the dryer for a few minutes to soften.

If the towels are dark, use the oxyclean and make sure you are using enough detergent along with at least warm water.

I use cold water for most things, but if it is related to kitchen or bath towels, I use warm/hot. You cannot kill bacteria with cold water, at all.
It's not drying properly, either it is being used then left in a place where it can't dry, or it isn't dry enough coming out of the drier. Make sure it is hung up where there is good air flow. You may want to get him another one so they can be washed more often.
To get rid of the odor (no u in odor) use a little bleach in the wash along with the detergent. Or just buy a new towel.
theonesuna, you can come do my laundry. I HATE,HAAAATEEEEE doing laundry :)

I also agree with the other posters. HOT water and bleach. Then make sure it's dried really good in the dryer.
Wash it twice. The first wash, one quorter cup bleach and one half cup laundrr detergant. The seconr wash just the detergant. This will work but I suggest that you buy hie a new one. After all he is your dad.
    hot water and bleach
can you not wash it daily?buy him another towel or two to rotate with.Bleaching it is only thing that works and making sure its in dry place...do not hang in wet bathroom where more moisture is.
throw it away and get a new one, mildew and mold can only be killed by pure bleach, the rest are just remedies at least on walls but even then it comes back if not properly ventilated

anything afected by mildew or mold most likely needs to be replaced.
There is mildew living inside the layers (gross I know). You need to leave the towel outside all day. Let it dry completely all the way through. Wash it with bleach if possible, and don't use fabric softener. Also, after each use, hang it don't put it in the hamper.
Trash IT! lol No, seriously Trash IT!...

I shower 2 times daily and though there is nothing like a fresh crisp towel I wonder if we should change it each time? How many times do you use the same bath towel?
I personality wouldn't use the same towel twice. god knows what it has picked up germ wise while it has been sitting damp.

There is nothing as nice a a lovely warm fluffy towel wrapped around you get some new towels .Catalogues and Argos does bales of towels which you usually get one large bath towel in it. Or go to a Primark store which does large bath towels both single each around 拢3.00 . I have a hair towel which wraps around you hair called a terry wrap most department stores sell them they are about 拢1.50 each and are most useful to take on holiday with as they are very small and you wrap them around and tuck in at the back they don't keep falling off and gives you time to dry the rest of your body with out your hair towel falling off all the time. Look after your self girl and pamper your self in good none expensive things . cause if your not good to your self no one out there will beHow many times do you use the same bath towel?
I get it washed each time I use it.
U must change every 3 times a week because your body is dirty and it only wipes water from your clean body but there is still dirt when hang out your towel.
About three times. A wet blanket in the bathroom is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.
change your towel every 6 months
Every 3 days... keeps you fresh and not with a basket full of laundry.
i think you should use the same towel. your showering in the same day, of course you can use it again. i do that to save towels for the next day so i dont have to wash them all the time.
    HI

I use a towel once and then I wash it. There is no telling what kinda bacteria and stuff can grow on it while it is sitting there waitng damp.

I use 2 towels, one for hair and one for body..The hair one i use 2 times..body i change after every use..

Why do we wash bath towels? Aren't we clean when we use them?

After a few years dust collects on them %26amp; you should wash them.

If you have kids they are walked on a lot when they lay on the bathroom floor and the footprints need to be washed off.Why do we wash bath towels? Aren't we clean when we use them?
Because when you towel dry yourself, the dead skin rubs out and sticks on the towel. If you don't wash them frequently, you soon start to have your own bacteria farm in your towels. :))Why do we wash bath towels? Aren't we clean when we use them?
Because of soap residue, dead skin cells and also the fact that it's damp. You soak the towel and then leave it, it smells damp. I wash mine when they smell damp. If it don't smell clean it aint helping you to stay clean
No, the cleanliness from your body does not wash the towel. People use soap. Bath towels need laundry soap. I wash my towels lots as I want to make sure that I am clean.
my girlfriend worked in an old people's home and was told that you had to wash the towels at least 60 degrees C because they had body fat on them and the heat had to be high to melt it and get it all out.
Although you are clean when you use them, there could still be some residue of soap / shower gel / bubble bath on you, and when you're drying yourself on the towel, the towel inevitably becomes wet, and if you NEVER washed your towels this would eventually lead to the breading of germs and bacteria.

Where can I find cheap, cheap bath towel sets?

I just need to know a good place, store or internet, where I can find cheap bathroom towel sets. I've done a few internet searches but haven't really found good deals. I'm obviously not looking for the best quality, just a cheap large quantity. Any suggestions?

Thanks!Where can I find cheap, cheap bath towel sets?

Try Walmart im sure youll find something there good luck ....
Idk what your idea of cheap is but mine is about 4 bucks a piece and you can get some nice ones a target for that price, or at walmart.
If you can wait till January, That is white sale month. Check instore at walmart kmart target. They don't put the cheap stuff online. Also you will be surprised at what you find at the dollar stores. (family $, $ general )
If you have a Marc's store near you they usually have towels in their closeouts section...sometimes nice ones for a few dollars each! Or try stores like Big Lots, Gabriel Brothers, TJ Maxx, or Just Closeouts.
Look for an Anna's linens in your neighborhood. they have good deals on quality stuff, but it can be hit or miss, when it's a hit, it's worth it
    walmart or target.

I have a musky smell in my bath towels ?

i wash my towels and drye them as soon as they are done and i still have a musky smell in them in a couple day after washing them, what is the deal with them i have tried everything i know to do, softner, borax and bleach for colors what else can i doI have a musky smell in my bath towels ?
The cheapest way is to put a dab of bleach in the wash water. Not very much!! You don't want to bleach anything, just sanitize.I have a musky smell in my bath towels ?
is the smell on there as soon as they are dry or when they come out of the linen closet....if it is the first then everyone else has some great ideas about it but if it is the latter then you need to clean and air out your linen closet...possibly check for dampness on the floor especially if it is carpeted....place an air freshener, a piece of charcoal, or a box of baking soda in the top corner....ours do the same thing from time to time.....also you could try running your washer empty with a little vinegar to see if maybe your washer just needs to be cleaned
I also have this problem, I have run my washing machine on a wash cycle with disinfectant in and no clothes etc. Still not making any difference. It only seems to happen with towels. I usually dry them in the tumble dryer, but tried them outside last week, no difference. Maybe they need replacing.
I had to stop buying colored towels...This is common. Buy white towels, wash in HOT water, set washer to rinse twice, use plenty of bleach, and make sure they are all the way dry before putting away. I promise this will solve your problem.....Also, after you shower you should hang on a towel bar so it can dry out better. Dont use a hook where the towel stays all bunched up. Good luck!
wash them 1 time without detergent and if they still smell wash them a second time with detergent and lots of it get some shout and spray the towels then use 2 cups of detergent and little of some bleach.

that should take care of those towels if not then buy some new 1s
Sounds like the water or the dryer wasn't hot enough, or you took them from the dryer before they were dry (or the moisture condensed on the towels coming home from the laundry).
That happens to my towels whenever my dad washes them, but not with my mother.. so i would say its the cleaning style, not the cleaning product.
It sounds like they aren't drying completely. Put them in the dryer for longer. Make sure you are storing them in a cool, cry place.
Are they dried completely? When you use them, are they getting enough air to dry them?

You could try some vinegar in the wash with your normal laundry soap.
Are you making sure they're bone dry before you bring them in off the line? If they're the tiniest bit damp when you put them in the cupboard they'll smell
Wash them with a new detergent and use some fabric softener or just buy some new towels.
Try presoaking them in a large tupperware container with alot of detergent overnight
Wash them on hot with baking soda.

Add fabric softener to final rinse cycle.

    Dryer sheet to dryer.
Boil them on the stove to remove old detergents that are trapping in odor.
Add a little vinegar in the wash cycle.
hang them outside for some fresh air and some sun.
    I have that same problem!
    get new ones

WHY do we NEED to WASH BATH TOWELS? AREN鈥橳 we CLEAN when we USE them?

My thing is to use the towel for a few days...then wash so it is not musty smelling. Besides after bathing you are rubbing off all your dead skin....you are right I am clean...but I don't wanna rub all my exfoliated skin on my clean self!WHY do we NEED to WASH BATH TOWELS? AREN鈥橳 we CLEAN when we USE them?
We not only dry ourselves with it but we clean our ears, we rub our armpits, we clean between our legs back and front.we clean between our toes...mmmm..good enough reasons to wash it frequently ?WHY do we NEED to WASH BATH TOWELS? AREN鈥橳 we CLEAN when we USE them?
because the dead-skin cells are on them?
I love the smell of my towels just getting off the washing, with that sunny, windy smell! =)

On a grosser and more microscopic note: just think of all the pieces of dead skin that falls off every second. If you don't wash everything, mites will flourish and people will get more asthma and allergies (proven fact). =/ I'd rather keep my stuff clean, thank you!
Lol...true. But they do go all musty after a while.
Maybe we should rather just burn them to be safe?
Yeah wet towels tend to grow mold if you leave them just sitting around for a while. No matter how clean you are when you wash up, you are still going to have a few little bacteria on you. That's all it takes to start up some mold on a towel. The mold could also come from the air though of course.

And for those other 2 people posting...dust is exfoliated skin cells. Ever breathe in some dust? You just got a big sniff of dead skin.
Sure but not clean enough especially when you have kids

What colour bath towel did you use this morning?

Do you think the type of bath towel you use and it's age says a lot about your personality? What colour bath towel did you use this morning?
Usually I just grab a towel off the shelf %26amp; never even look at the color. The only time I care about the color is when I'm on my period. Then I don't use any white towels. What colour bath towel did you use this morning?
After years of using coloured towels when we redid the bathroom and showeroom we bought nice big white bath sheets etc. Of course they have to go on a very hot wash to keep white but it is nice to have a clean white towel (that you can see is clean). I would not have had white when the kids were still living at home though.
What colour? Is there some reason I should have noticed? I think it was green ... but I couldn't be sure.

The type of towel, colour and age probably says more about my wife than about me - and it says she has good taste in colour (I don't) and style (I don't) and keeps the house and it's contents clean (I probably could if I really had to!)
Plain white towel from The White Company. It's about 2 years old and I'm thinking of replacing it as it has a slight yellow tinge.

I don't think it says anything about my personality though, other than I like things neat.
White - as my towels go with the colour scheme off the bathroom!!
    White at first,black when finished.
lol. maybe if you live by yourself.
    Pink
    blue

Can I bring a bath towel to the beach instead of a beach towel?

Is it wierd? It's only because none of my beach towels are clean right now and i'm going to the beach tomorrow morning and my mom's doing laundry tomorrow afternoon.

Can I use a bath towel as a beach towel? Have you ever done this? Thanks. Can I bring a bath towel to the beach instead of a beach towel?
    OF COURSE YOU CAN!

    I Only have Bath towels.

Almost everyone i know takes bath towels.

    It's Okay.

    Just take a regular

But i would suggest using a different one than you are using one right now, like in the shower. Take a fresh one. Of course if you don't have any other Towels, use the one you have been using in the shower.

I don't know why, i feel weird when i take one i have used in the shower.

Plus i always forget to take another one and put it in my bathroom

Then I'm stuck in the shower with a little hand towel to dry myself off.

    So yea........

HAVE FUN AT THE BEACH! :-DCan I bring a bath towel to the beach instead of a beach towel?
as long as it is a towel it doesn't matter. Beach towels are just oversized so that you can lie on them. But any towel is fine.
It's not weird at all. Who's really gonna care?

    Have fun!
Not it's not weird. If you have one bring a fun colored one!!
    no problem!!
it doesnt really matter but why dont u go buy a cheap one at like target or something?
uh......Ya!!!!!! I never even use to bring a towel when I lived in San Diego too much fun!!!!!!, Miss home :(

Cna you use normal towels to bath baby or do you have to use hooded towels?

You can use either. I prefer the hooded towels, though.Cna you use normal towels to bath baby or do you have to use hooded towels?
Nope any towel is fine. the hoods just stop the baby losing heat from their heads, which happens quickly after a bath. You can always pull a corner of the towel over babys head.

P.S to cotter. I often used t-shirts too lolCna you use normal towels to bath baby or do you have to use hooded towels?
Towels dont make a difference the hoods are just to keep the babies head warm after the bath. It wont kill him to use a regular towel, but its good to use the ones with the hoods to protect them as much as possible
You can use any towel. My son hates the hood with a passion anyways, its only there to keep their head warm, but if you dry their hair off, its fine. Besides, once it gets wet its not exactly warm anyways.
You do not have to use hooded towel. The only reason taht is suggested it to keep their head warm. You can always put the corner of the towel over their head. A towel is a towel.
I would assume regular towels are fine. Just make sure it is a soft towel. Baby towels are great, but you don't have to buy the hooded ones.
You can use normal ones. A towel is a towel. They all get the job done the same way! You can still wrap your baby up so that it has a hood.
either one. the hooded towels are just good because babies come out of warm water and are exposed to cool air so they need something on their heads. most heat escapes through the baby's head.
Of course you can use normal towels. The hooded ones are nice but not necessary.
Normal towels are just fine! The only benefit to hooded towels are that they are cute.
You can use any towel but hooded towels keep them a bit warmer while being dried off.
Hooded towels are increadibly cute -- but absolutely not necessary. Any towel will do.
you can use the same towels you use, but the baby towels are softer
You can use what ever you want - I've even used t-shirts (they are softer than towels)
I use regular towels with my son. I just try to use the ones that aren't rough.
I use hooded towels...my baby girl is so cute all wrapped up with the hood over the head...

How long do you use a bath towel before washing it?

After you take a bath what do you do with your towel. How long do you use the same towel before putting it in the wash? How long do you use a bath towel before washing it?
We all hang up our towels BUT I have this daughter that thinks she can omly use a towel once and she uses two, one for her hair and one for her body and she takes two showers a day so thats 28 towels she has in her bedroom a week,I dont know how many times i have brought this subject up in my house about the darn towels and now that you brought it up now im pissed about my own damn towelsHow long do you use a bath towel before washing it?
I shower 3x a week and I use the same towel each time for probably 2 weeks. My husband uses my towel as well so the two of us use the same towel for 2 weeks, maybe 16 showers. I hang it up to dry on a hook near my shower. (Unless of course it starts to smell for some reason.)

I also have a microfiber hair towel that I use and hang to dry - I probably wash that maybe once every month or two. (Ditto.)
holy sh*t da girl above me said she uses a new one each time! i would definitely not have the money or da time to do dat everyday, wtf who does that anyway.lol. anyway

i use it for about a week then wash it. I have my own towel.

Or unless it starts smelling bad i wash if before then
You can use it up to a week because you always use it when your clean, and it saves water if each person uses their own towel for a week, then wash it
The towel to dry off my body,I use it once. If it's the towel i use to dry my hair, then about 3 times.
    I'm a very lazy person.

So around 2 weeks, or whenever I think it smells bad. My closet smells because of it, I think.
One week or longer. It's easy to always replace towels on a Sunday, for instance.
A week if hung up to dry properly.
I use it one time and through it in the wash.
i use a new one each time lol

its a bit silly but its a habit
Once, then wash it for my house!

How often should I change my bath towel?

How often should I change my bath towel if I shower once a day and take a bath once a week? How often should I change my bath towel?
    Yes, about twice a week.

I change my towel every wednesday and saturday.

Its also not fun to have a dirty towel because they just get wet and arent nice to dry with! How often should I change my bath towel?
Its different for people. I change mine after the second or third day. It becomes the floor towel. And after a week, the floor towel gets thrown into the washer. I rotate the stock of towels. I change wash rags every day, thats just gross.
I change mine everyday. I dont see how anyone could use a towel to dry themselves off that they've used 3 times before. I have a friend who does that and her towel will still be damp the next day and smell all moldy....GROSS! so yea change your towel daily.
well u should change it 3 times during the week ,

Hello,,I say it depends on whether it gets dried out between showers,,it will smell nasty if you wait every couple days and that smell transfers onto your body when you use it!!if it gets completely dry,,maybe up to 3 days,,smell test!!
You take a bath at least once a week!!!! Take a bath at least two or three times a week. I change my bath towel everytime I take a shower.
I change my towels on a daily basis. I do not want to wipe my body with a towel that was on my behind the shower before. That's just nasty
When it can stand up by itself and walk to you when you get out of the shower.
    my mom is a germ freak so she changes our towels every day... she says ';do you want to be wiping your face with what you wiped your butt in yesterday.';

    definitely everyday!!!
    every other day
    hmm,.,it depends!!

but try to change it at least once to twice a week!!

Is there a bath towel that dries fast?

Our bathroom has a fan (which we use) and also a window which is partly opened but our bath towels never seem to dry out? Is there a bath towel that dries out faster?

The towels are cold and still damp when you go to use them and also get smelly very fast cause they are damp!

You might also try linen towels... not terrycloth weave, just plain flat-woven linen. Excellent at drying but also dry out well. These are typically used to dry fine crystal, but a yard of real linen 45'; wide makes a very nice people towel, imo. Avoid linen and poly blends, linen and rayon blends and ';linen-look';.

Because this is a persistent problem for you, you might want to consider putting a timer on the bathroom fan (and check that the air is actually moving when it's on!). You'll not only save yourself stinky towels, but possible structural damage from high moisture in the walls allowing rot to set in.Is there a bath towel that dries fast?
If your bathroom is humid then there is no way for the water to evaporate from the towel. Get a humidity meter. Place in bathroom to tell how much water vapor is in the room.

How long does it take for the towel to dry outside on a cloths line?

All I can say about bath towels is that the more fuzzy and the less smooth it is the quicker it will dry.

What color of rugs and towels can I use for my master bath? The walls are sky blue and the counters white.?

Well if you want to make it more gender neurtral you could go with the colours of nature and buy sand coloured towels. I would probably go with a rug with a bit of a pattern with the same colour of the towels to provide some matching. Beaches usually have blue, white and sand....

If you are really adventurous and want to make a girly splash I would go with something with an aqua tone or a chartreuse green. Have fun. What color of rugs and towels can I use for my master bath? The walls are sky blue and the counters white.?
Thank you so much for your answer, I decided to go for the beach theme. I bought brown rugs and towels with seashell and starfish and beach theme accents. I really enjoy my bathroom now!

What color of rugs and towels can I use for my master bath? The walls are sky blue and the counters white.?
I like to bring the outdoors in so I'd think a spring green/white %26amp; yellow/white stripes along with solids for towels would be refreshing %26amp; relaxing. For rugs I'd think a sand color would blend well with the towels. Add some hanging plants, sea shells, candles, etc. %26amp; enjoy your own little paradise! Have fun with it!
I have the same colors. I bought one set in the light blue and the other in a butter yellow. It looks wonderful. Blue and yellow compliment eachother very well.
I would probably buy a cobalt blue color for bam and spunk...definately a wow factor...Coral is striking as well as the sunset is that color...

Your master bath should flow color wise and style from your BR.

Whatever colors you decide on be certain to use this color in your BR as well.

It can be in small doses but should exist.
You have a lot of choices depending on the mood you want to create. For a vibrant energized feel use red. For a cheerful, springtime look, yellow is great with blue and white. For a calm, serene feel use tans and navy accents. Hope this helps!
White. We have white because they can be bleached. Hotels use white for the same reason.

Buy the best ones you can.

you just have two use them a couple of times then they will be absorbent

I wash towels either every 3 days or whenever my husband leaves them on the floor. Bedding, it depends on if we sweat. Sometimes it's every week, sometimes it could be a month.

I probably change my towels once a week. I use two towels one for my hair and one for my body. I use the hair towel to dry my face before I put it around my head. I probably change the sheets monthly. Gross I know but I have a hard time getting around to it. I know it should be more.
Only when it starts to stink, do i wash anything.
I air dry in the back of the pickup after a bath. I like to dig holes in the summer and sleep in there, no sheets. I have a straw bed in the winter, no sheets then either. I would like to have your terrycloth robe, for scientific purposes of course.
I change all my towels in my bathrooms (hand towels, and bath towels) every time I do laundry (so when my hamper gets full 'bout once or twice a week) I wash my robe and my bedsheets once a month
It's a personal choice. Seems like your hygene is sound and acceptable but I am goofey about weekly changing of bedsheets.

How long do you use your bath towel before washing it?

If you are like mema, you are putting a damp towel into the hamper and inviting trouble. We have evening showers and morning showers in our house; the used towel gets hung up in such a way that air circulates and it can dry. The morning after the evening showers in the children's bathroom, I collect the towels (if they are dry enough) to put in the hamper; the evening immediately following the morning showers, I collect the towels from the master bath. I put one clean handtowel per person per day in each bathroom, and everyone around here seems to average three or four washcloths per day. I have a full load of towels every two days from the children's bath; every three days from my bath.

On the other hand, I know perfectly healthy, sane people who get at least two days from their bath towels with no ill effect. The trick seems to be to make sure the towel can dry thoroughly and quickly to keep the bacteria count down. How long do you use your bath towel before washing it?
I wash it after each use.How long do you use your bath towel before washing it?
I put it in the laundry as soon as I finish using one and hang a fresh one in it's place.
Once Do you put your dirty underwear back on?
i do what mema does, dry myself, dry the shower walls, and then straight in the washing machine.
Every other day I change the towel.
After I'm done showering I dry myself then I use it to dry down the walls in the shower then it goes in the hamper. So my answer is 1 time.
    3 days
    Once.
    i never wash wash it
Three showers is my limit for bath towels.
Usually a few days, but up to a week. If it dries well in between uses, it should be ok for a week or two.
    around a month
i use mine to times if your clean then it not going to get dirty
It depends on how many towels you actually have and how often you feel like doing laundry. I usually bathe at least 2 times a day so I susally wash my towels every other day, but that's just me and I have many towels to use. I do laundry once a week so, depending on how often and how many towels you use and/or have, and how often you bathe.
    bout every 2 days
    Use only once.
    every 2-3 days about right.
Gross, I hate when I go to a shower and someone hangs up an already used damp towel right on the rack. I like my towels to be fluffy and warm.
In our house, linens are changed once a week. I know some people are into the new towel at every bath but you are supposed to be drying your clean body. Washing a clean towel wastes water and energy and in our part of the country we are in a severe drought.
    wash them everyday

I change my bath towel every 2 days or more often. Why do we wash bath towels?
Yes, i reuse my bath towel a few times then wash it. Saves water and energy there.

The point to washing them is to get that musty wet dog smell out (happens after multiple uses) Also if you wipe yourself down with a towel just think of all the dead skin that is now on the towel.
yes we are suppose to be clean when we use them but when they get wet and you leave them for several days . They smell. You can only use them so many times or just once. It is better to be clean with your laundry and your body than not to be.
See, I thought the same thing.

But once my towels get stiff, crunchy and smelling like a unwashed crotch I usually start to think about washing them.

So apparently they do get dirty.

I have thought of one way to help environment that I haven't heard yet. Use smaller bath towels as those?

large towels take forever to dry in the dryer. Also norwex is a fantastic product for no chemical cleaning. Do you have an idea that isn't making the mainstream environment news??I have thought of one way to help environment that I haven't heard yet. Use smaller bath towels as those?
Forget towels just hang dry your stuff.I have thought of one way to help environment that I haven't heard yet. Use smaller bath towels as those?
how about not using a dryer at all during the warm months? a good old clothesline uses natural sunlight and air to dry our clothes, and even the most stringent residential codes can allow for these if you're willing to do battle with those who have nothing better to do than enforce stupid laws.

and how about wearing an outfit more than once, until it's dirty and really needs to be washed. I recycle my laundry water by emptying the hose into a large trash bin and using a sump pump to divert the water into the garden. plants love the detergent, which acts as a fertilizer.

we really need to be concerned about our obsession with germs and cleanliness. we're creating people who have no resistance to germs and who are paranoid of them. my neighbor is an example: he launders a towel after just one use and there are three people living in his home. you calculate the impact.
Worm farms are a good way of recycling vegetable waste. It all goes in the worm farm and the worms convert it into highly nutritious soil which is then used to grow vegetables. This means I contribute less to the fuel consumption which is necessary for transporting food into the city. It also means the vegetables are much fresher so higher in vitamins, and of course, I save money.

Also, I only turn on my water heater when I'm about to take a shower. When the water is warm enough, I turn it off and have the shower. The water heater then fills up with cold water which isn't heated until I need it to be. The energy saved is reflected in the cheaper electricity bills.

Other ways of recycling waste and saving resources at the same time are methane generators and composting toilets. Some people find this a bit too much, but if you're serious about the environment, it's worth looking into. Same with grey water. Why flush water down the drain, when it can be used to grow food?

Also I don't understand why every drop of water that comes out of a tap, has to be treated to the point that it's drinkable. It seems to be more sensible for individuals to only treat the water they plan on drinking. Obviously the water that comes out of a tap should be clean, but it doesn't need the full treatment.

There are plenty of ways to reduce waste, and save money. You just need to think about best practice.
Not using your computer is an idea that isn't making it to the ';mainstream environment news';.
Both NASA's Clean Air Plant Study and the world's cleanest operation car run by compressed air isn't making the mainstream environment news.

';NASA research has consistently shown that living, green and flowering plants can remove several toxic chemicals from the air in building interiors. You can use plants in your home or office to improve the quality of the air to make it a more pleasant place to live and work - where people feel better, perform better, any enjoy life more.'; --- http://www.zone10.com/tech/NASA/Fyh.htm

'; After fourteen years of research and development, Guy Negre has developed an engine that could become one of the biggest technological advances of this century. Its application to Compressed Air Technology(CAT) vehicles gives them significant economical and environmental advantages. With the incorporation of bi-energy (compressed air + fuel) the CAT Vehicles have increased their driving range to close to 2000 km with zero pollution in cities and considerably reduced pollution outside urban areas.

The application of the MDI engine in other areas, outside the automotive sector, opens a multitude of possibilities in nautical fields, co-generation, auxiliary engines, electric generators groups, etc. Compressed air is a new viable form of power that allows the accumulation and transport of energy. MDI is very close to initiating the production of a series of engines and vehicles. The company is financed by the sale of manufacturing licenses and patents all over the world.'; --- http://www.theaircar.com/
Not small towels, but just a few. When your done with it, hang it up. Use it a few times untill it gets very dirty then wash it.

It seems silly to think of washing them after every use....is that what I need to do?Washing bath towels...(how often?)?
It is the unscented detergent you are using!!

I used regular detergent forever and my towels always smelled fresher longer, then my husband started breaking out so we changed soap and detergent.

I started using the unscented b/c it is more gentle, but it made my towels smell horrible after just a couple uses.

So if you continue to use the unscented you will have to wash them more often.

Although....if you want a gentle detergent that keeps your towels smelling fresh try Dreft鈩?It is formulated for babies so you know it is gentel on skin and on fabric!!

I have used it, and it works...at least try switching...but I'm sure it is b/c of the detergent...I had the same problem.Washing bath towels...(how often?)?
well maybe look at how they're being hung up after use, is the room they're in staying steamy for a while afterwards? See smell like it or not comes from bactieria, and the bactieria has time to grow whenever the towel is wet. if you're in a humid area, you may need to hang your towels farther apart, and open, not folded over. You can try some color safe bleach to help steilize the towels. But the faster they dry after each use, the fresher they will stay.

ed: hot, of course will kill more germs, thus fresher towels.
After all, we dry after our shower/bath and are clean.

I use them 3-4 times, but they do dry without odor.

If the air in your home contains moisture they may not dry thoroughly.

    ';I've been using the same towels for a week. I want clean towels.';

He was thrown in jail. LOL

Sheesh! Americans! I'd have bought some towels.
I always use a towel just once. I even use one for my hair and one for my body everyday. When our towels run out ( in about 5 days) I will wash them in hot water. I never use a towel twice, the thought of it being on my butt and other areas and the next day on my face makes me sick lol. I would use them once if i were you. It's really not a big hassle.
well i actually wash them weekly and i use a towel about 3 times or 4 the most but no longer than 4 days b/c they start getting a smell. even though i let them dry very well
I would use scented detergent or at least a scented dryer sheet when you wash them. Depending on how ventilated the area you dry them is, they may attract smelly bacteria (if the area is dark with no windows, like a small bathroom). I would wash them after about three uses, but if you share the same towels, I would wash them even more often.
I wash mine after 3 or 4 days also, but have you tried the laundry det. `Gain`, it is made by Tide and is 1茅2 the price. Works even better than Tide and comes in all different scents besides plain unscented. Gain also has a fabric softner.
My mom washes the towels every week, and I use them everyday. I hang them to dry as flat as I can. I never notice them smelling bad. My mom uses Tide HE and a high efficiency washing machine and no fabric softner. My mom is a clean freak, so I am guessing she knows that is a good timeframe to wash and they still be clean!
We use ours two or three times and then wash em. My towels only hold their scent until they are used. Then it goes away. We use Tide Lavender Scent. Its no big deal for me, I don't really care if they hold their scent or not after the first use. Its when they are folded on the towel rack, that I want them to smell pretty.
I would wash them after 3 or 4 time you use them. You are clean after you get out of the shower anyway. I have used Tide for years and am very happy with their products. Hope that helps.

Why do we have to wash bath towels so often, since.......?

..... when we use them, we are absolutely clean and fresh ?Why do we have to wash bath towels so often, since.......?
I wait til after 3 showers:) my dryer takes forever to dry towels! Why do we have to wash bath towels so often, since.......?
yeah seriously bath towell get disgusting in like 2 or 3 showers. all the dead skin cells and think of what you are drying with it! id rather not wash my bed sheets than not wash my bath towell. i just wouldnt have sex in my bed, eat, and i would take a shower before i get into my bed!
Many people don't. I've heard that a lot of people hang bath towels to dry out after use and only wash them only after ever other or several uses. When dry a good whiff will tell you if it's fresh enough.
Well, because the Appliance Conspiracy People want you to buy new machines every so often, and towels are the most strain on washers and dryers.....
    more cleanliness
Dey get smelly stinky icky poo
haha because they start to smell after soaking up too much water....

My bath towels always come out rough and hard, how do i get really soft fluffy towels after washing?

I'm still wokrin on keep white towels ';white'; the way they were when I bought them at the store. My bath towels always come out rough and hard, how do i get really soft fluffy towels after washing?
Fabric softeners may work to some extent but using less detergent and adding vinegar to the rinse water will help a whole lot.My bath towels always come out rough and hard, how do i get really soft fluffy towels after washing?
Put em in the tumble dryer for a while.
You could use liquid fabric softener (like downy) or you can use dryer sheets (bounce). or both. :)! I do my clothes are really soft!
Have you been living under a rock? Stay-Soft of course!
    use two softener sheets.
Lenor concentrated fabric softener then when they're nearly dry I put them in the tumble drier to finish them off!
Hang out side to air dry on a nice windy day with sofner on the washer cycle.

Works for me never ger rough towels.
Try some fabric softener, like Downy, in the rinse water; or dryer sheets in the dryer. It will make a big difference.
Add a fabric softener (e.g. Comfort or Lenor in UK) to your rinse water and they're even better if you can tumble dry them. Don't use too much softener or they lose some of their absorbency.
use fabric softener after washing your clothes, like Downy, Venel etc.
I had the same problem. I found that even fabric softener wouldn't work. My towels and sox would both come out too stiff. I told my mom about this, and she told me what to do: use LESS detergent! Try washing your next load of towels with half the amount of detergent and see if it works. Whatdya got to lose? (other than hard towels!)
    fabric softener
wash in warm water and dry on low heat
add fabric softner... when dry....just to soften them up....chuck them in the tumble dryer for 10 mins...
Fabric Softner AND finnish them off in the tumble dryer say for 20 minutes! Then.....awwwwww SOFT TOWELS!!
how do you dry them? tumble dryers usually make for soft fluffy towels, especially after adding a bit of fabroc softner
add small amount of soap powder and just a little comfort and hang out on washing line as i have no tumbler dryer and this works lovely and soft especially on good windy days this was the way my mum had to and i have followed and has always worked
    add softener?
use some comfort and put them in the tumble dryer when you bring them off line, you possibly need new ones too of good quality
add liquid softner to the rinse water or use a dryer sheet in the dryer.
very very simple, after it has dried ,spread it , with the palms of your hands smothen the surface towards right and left, same for the other side, ..
To keep towels soft, use only half the amount of detergent recommended on the manufacturer鈥檚 label. Avoid pouring detergent directly onto towels. This may lead to a residue build-up that reduces softness. Always use a mild detergent and use chlorine bleach sparingly.

鈥?Use fabric softener only occasionally. Avoid silicone-based fabric softeners. These softeners leave behind a waxy film that counters absorbency.

鈥?Separate deeply colored towels from lighter ones. Avoid washing towels with items that have zippers, hooks or buttons, which may damage the towel鈥檚 loops. Do not wash clothes with towels; terry cloth will coat finer fabrics with lint.

鈥?Hang towels fully extended on a rod for ventilation and quick drying to allow for multiple uses. Fewer washings means a longer life. Never place moist towels in a hamper where they can grow mold and bacteria.
    fabric softener.
I make my own detergent. 1 cup grated

Fels Naptha soap, 1/2 cup washing soda- Arm %26amp; Hammer(not baking soda), 1/2 cup 20 Mule Team borax. Mix and store in air tight container. For light loads use 2 table spoons and heavy 3 tablespoons. I actually usually use 1 tablespoon and my towels amazingly come out soft and sweet smelling! I give thanks to www. flylady.com and www.soapsgonebuy.com . I do dry in the dryer as well. I would think they would be soft hang drying but have not tried. I love my dryer too much-lol.
Add softner also when you take them in off the line put them into the tumble dryer for a few spins, believe me this works and they come out soft fluffy and warm!
if you hang them on line first to dry them they do become rough but they smell fresh but put them in tumble dryer for half an after and they still smell fresh but fluffy too
    you're having a laugh...fabric conditioner????
Dryer Balls - available at Wal-Mart %26amp; Linens 'n Things. Put both in the dryer %26amp; your towels will be as soft as ever! If you can't find them, 2 tennis balls will work.
    use softener
Try tumble drying them, for 10/20 mins, before you hang them to dry
