Yes you can, IF there are 100% cotton (synthetics don't take dye well) and you have a top loading machine (or else you have to use the stovetop method). I've used the liquid Rit dye with good results (not so with the powder) and use twice the amount of dye for their weight, for the most color saturation. One other hint, be certain to set the dye in the rinse cycle with either white vinegar or salt, particularly if you are dying them a dark color, and then use vinegar in the rinse water the first few times you launder them so they don't bleed or fade.Can i dye my bath towels? they're white and show every tiny little mark!!!!?
Yes, you can. I have done some very successfully, I use a dye that just goes straight in the machine. The only thing to watch, from my experience, is sometimes the stitching doesn't dye if it is synthetic, but this has only happened once to me - I was using a cheap value towel and dyed it black, the stitching stayed white, but this was no problem to me - it still works as a towel! Better quality towels stitching should be fine!





Remember, though, to stick to the recommended weights, since too much fabric can lead to lighter colours or uneven dying. Also, wash separate the first couple of washes. you can and you can use the Rit powder dye if you take the time to prepare properly.





To use powder dye, take an old glass jar with tight fitting lid, add very hot tap water and stir the dye powder in with either an old spoon that you don't mind throwing away or a stick.


then put the lid on , and shake the jar.


Remove the lid, cover the mouth of the jar with old panty hose and strain the dye into the pre filled washer ( water only). Then allow the washer to agitate for a couple of minutes before adding the wet towels.





This straining step helps to eliminate the speckle problem that can


occur when you use the powder dye and adding the dye to the water in the washer helps prevent splashing which can cause staining on the washer and you.





You should also add salt to the dye bath as it will help deepen and set the color. You might also want to wash the towels separately for a while until you're sure that they aren't bleeding.
yeah, i have done that a couple of times over the years. You can get dye for the washing machine.Follow the instructions-it's easy. Just make sure you run an empty wash through afterwards to make sure you have got rid of it all and wipe round the door rim and inside the rubber seal.

Yes I dyed mine when they got a bit older, they took really well, I bought a dylon dye and put it in the washing machine, dont forget to put salt in as this sets the dye and stops it running in the next wash, they came our brilliant, I have also dyed sheets, duvets and undies all really easy and succesfull
If they are white you could bleach them to get them extra clean. They will also smell nice and fresh.





I think that white towels are the best, they look so crisp and clean--reminds me of being in a hotel.





Plus, white goes with any kind of decor and you don't have to worry about fading or bleeding like you would if the towels were dyed.

yes you can but they will need a lot of dye - regardless of the salt suggestion they will always leak a bit of colour so have to be washed

may find it cheaper to buy some new ones - and keep those for

Just make sure you get the right amount of dye for the weight of your towels, because otherwise it will come out all wishy washy or patchy.
