Even if I used bleach on them they didnt become white again. Im not washing them with anything else except other towels. I usually try to wash them in hot water. Any ideas why this has happened and is there any way to prevent this or to fix it?I have beautiful new white bath towels that turned yellowish-gray after being laundered.?
check to make sure the inside of your washing machine isn't rusting. sometimes if you're using an older machine rust will stain your whites.I have beautiful new white bath towels that turned yellowish-gray after being laundered.?
Biz bleach set them over night it sure made my diapers white again
This may have been caused by your washing powder. Try soaking them in a scoop of Oxy Clean and hot water, then laundering them as usual.
Have you cleaned the wash basin of your washer? It may be rust and calcium deposits in there that dyed your towels.
There are cleaners you can get, do an empty cycle with that cleaner in there, and it should get the funky stuff out of there.
I've heard that you can put like a big bottle of vinegar in there and run that as a cycle, but I can't stand the smell of it, so I can't tell ya if that works or not...
did you bleach them the first time? not all whites can be bleache. It can cause yellowing on some fabrics. always check the tag before washing. to remove the yellowing soak them in white vinigar over night. this removes the yellowing of most fabricks and is the only thing i know of to work. oxy clean does not work on this. good luck and i hate to say you mahe just have to buy new towels.
Pre soak in a bucket of hot water with a cup of white vinegar. Then wash as normal and add another cup to the wash and a 1/2 cup to the rinse draw.Dry them in the sun and they will be white once more.GUARANTEED.
In future wash them on their own or with whites and always add a cup of white vinegar to the wash. This will keep the towels from fraying and also keep them fluffy and white
good luck.
Both Rit and Mostenbockers sell a dye remover product that you add in with the washwater. They are sold at fabric stores on the dye aisle and many big box discounters sell them on the laundry aisle. The will both remove dye that has bled on to the towels from other items.
Go to your local hard ware store, and pick up a thing of ';iron out'; fill the wash tub with water, and add a little of the powder to it. Through in the towels, and let it soak a few minutes, then run load as usual, with out the soap, run it a second time with the soap. Then get your self some water filters to put on before your water goes into the machine. The yellowish stuff is Iron in your water. make sure you put a filter on your sink pipes to, and a tap filter, cause that stuff isn't good to drink. The filter are not expensive.
Clorox bleach is best. Maybe you used a cheap brand. I use about a QUART of bleach per white wash. You were correct using hot water.
Run CLR through an empty load in your washer. Then resume your normal washing routine. Any discolration in the washer will be removed and shouldn't return again for a long time. Bleach those towels and they'll be fine too.
I have the same problem and I believe it's due to iron or sulpher deposits in your water.
It sucks...I loved my pretty white towels.
YOU HAVE A HIGH IRON CONTENT IN YOUR WATER.
use the right soappowder or put a steradent tablet (for cleaning 'faketeeth') with it.
try adding a bit of bit of baking soda along with your detergent while washing and always retreat from giving clothes to the laundry
