Nope any towel is fine. the hoods just stop the baby losing heat from their heads, which happens quickly after a bath. You can always pull a corner of the towel over babys head.

Towels dont make a difference the hoods are just to keep the babies head warm after the bath. It wont kill him to use a regular towel, but its good to use the ones with the hoods to protect them as much as possible
You can use any towel. My son hates the hood with a passion anyways, its only there to keep their head warm, but if you dry their hair off, its fine. Besides, once it gets wet its not exactly warm anyways.
You do not have to use hooded towel. The only reason taht is suggested it to keep their head warm. You can always put the corner of the towel over their head. A towel is a towel.
I would assume regular towels are fine. Just make sure it is a soft towel. Baby towels are great, but you don't have to buy the hooded ones.

either one. the hooded towels are just good because babies come out of warm water and are exposed to cool air so they need something on their heads. most heat escapes through the baby's head.

I use regular towels with my son. I just try to use the ones that aren't rough.
