Launder them before using them. Put a cup of white vinegar in the rinse water. Do not use fabric softener in the wash or in the dryer. Fabric softener diminishes the absorbency of towels.How do you make new bath towels absorbent?
Wash them in HOT water (but cooler water if you are afraid the colour might run!) and do not use a dryer sheet when you dry them.

you just have two use them a couple of times then they will be absorbent
wash them befor you use them.
wash them and rinse or dry in a good softener
