How do you remove mildew smell from bath towels?

Add about half a cup of borax to the next wash (regular borax, not Boraxo hand soap). Good for all sorts of bad odors, and a mild bleach and disinfectant besides.How do you remove mildew smell from bath towels?
My experience with this also is it being the washer. Regular old bleach added to an empty washer, fill it up, and let it sit full for about an hour, then run a normal cycle. No problems after that, but I would run a load of whites through it before anything else.How do you remove mildew smell from bath towels?
add 1 c of ammonia, watch out, the smell is awful!
Next time you wash your towel, add 1 cup of vinegar into the washing machine. Vinegar is a natural odor eliminator... it doesnt smell after it has dried.
Many times the smell on towels and clothes when they get wet is caused by a residue build-up in the washer, especially in HE Front Loaders.

';affresh鈩?cleaner is a formulated, slow-dissolve, foaming tablet that gets under residue, breaks it up, and washes it away leaving the washer smelling fresh and clean.';

We get this smell, even in freshly washed towels, once you wet them again as when you begin to dry off. It only happens at our camp and it turned out to be the washing machine, even though it didn't affect our clothes.

I got a little product at the grocery store that has bacteria that eat other odor or sour smell causing bacteria. It is totally safe and is commonly used on carpet and upholstery for animal or human odor control in them. Even the ones for urine smells work well.

But the secret is, the odor is coming from the washer, not the towels. Just mix as per directions, but pour it into an empty washer (washers hold a little water in the unseen part below the actual wash tub) instead of spraying on the fabric.

Give it overnight to work and it should get rid of the problem.

We only use the camp every few months and I've done this twice in the last year and a half or so and it works perfectly.
