The chance of getting either oral or genital herpes from a towel is so slim that I wouldn't worry about it. The virus dies quickly when it hits the air. Water also kills exposed virus. Can you spread herpes to your children by shraeing bath towels and razors?
Herpes (both types) doesn't live long outside the body, so razors are fine. Damp towels MIGHT be an issue, but once they are dry, its fine.
You should check out www.westoverheights.com and www.racoon.com/herpes for more info. Racoon.com has wonderful support forums and chat, if you are interested in that.
