Even using fabric softeners, my bath towels become very coarse after many washes? Does anyone have any secrets to keeping them soft or making them soft again?
Thanks! How can I get coarse bath towels soft again?
downeyHow can I get coarse bath towels soft again?
Get higher quality towels I guess.
hanging them out to dry really softens them up..
Sounds as if the laundry water is hard. Try limescale blocks in your washer. lol
One cup of vinugar in a load of laundry and then wash the towle again. It should work because it sounds like your not getting all the laundry soap out of your towles.
Use one cup of vinegar in a regular wash cycle, then wash with soap as usual.Works like a charm. The vinegar gets all the soap residue out. When they get stiff again, repeat.
I had a set of towels that did that too. I never was able to get them as soft as I thought they should have been. I've heard those ball that you throw in the dryer help. Try an extra rinse cycle to see if it's the detergent being left in too. I hope you have better luck than I. My towels are now for car use.
do you have a ';fluff'; setting on your clothes dryer? or one that just tumbles'n'airs the load? I often line-dry my towels, which leaves them stiff and a bit coarse, but then 10 minutes or so on that setting softens them up pretty well
For towels, I sometimes use not only fabric softener in the rinse cycle, but throw a dryer sheet in while they dry, too. That makes them extra soft.
Pour some fabric softener with a few tablespoons of hair conditioner. Soak for a few minutes so that it gets into the fabric--this may loosen the fabric up a bit so it's not as coarse. Wash regularly. Dry with a regular dryer sheet--bounce is best, but use what you got.
