I have a Whirlpool Front load washer, the bath towels smell musty after use?

Since I switched to the HE type of soap I have noticed a musty smell on our bath towels after they get damp. Is the answer to go back to regular Laundry soap? The manufacturer says not.I have a Whirlpool Front load washer, the bath towels smell musty after use?
I've used HE and regular detergents in our Whirlpool front-loader, and I have never had that problem. Use the extra rinse feature and set the spin to ';Extra High';. I've never used fabric softener of any kind with towels; perhaps that is the problem. Set the dryer fro 5 minutes longer than you do now when you use the ';Timed Dry'; setting. If you use the ';Automatic Dry';, set it for 34 minutes, and the dryer will take care of the rest. You have to run the dryer longer for towels than for anything else.

Note that if you use regular detergents, use about one-quarter, adjusting more or less for the soil factor in your laundry, of what the manufacturer recommends.I have a Whirlpool Front load washer, the bath towels smell musty after use?
First try drying them longer....the smell is because when you fold them they're hot...but maybe just slightly damp somewhere..most likely in the thick seams...and after sitting in the linen closet, they then give off that smell when they get wet again...I've had the same problem and I do not use that type of soap. If drying them longer- either in the dryer or just hanging them over the chair for another half hour, do what I do, I use a fabric softener with a nice smell and dry them till they burn my hands to take them out......yes, I'm serious and I now buy thinner towels.
add baking soda to the loads
yes
