How do I get the mildew smell out of my bath towels??

I wash my towels and they still smell like mildew!! Anyone have any tipsHow do I get the mildew smell out of my bath towels??
To remove the smell, you must kill the mildew, not just cover it up with a good smell such as fabric softener. Wash again and add 1 cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle. The vinegar kills the mildew and bacteria causing the smell. It also works as a fabric softener and a deodorizer. The vinegar smell dissipates as it dries. How do I get the mildew smell out of my bath towels??
hot water, tide, and bleach. I don't own one towel that is white, yet i bleach my towels cause they get smelly like that. I have used the regular bleach forEVER, for this, but now that the new clorox ultimate care has come out, I use it for my towels and it works like a charm. I have a family of 6, plus my husband works in dirt, rain, and sometimes some pretty stinky stuff....when I switched to Tide, i noticed that the stains and smells were coming out better and quicker as well. Good luck and God Bless.
Add a cup or two of white vinegar in the final rinse. :)
There is a company in Benton Harbor, Michigan, All Time Pest Control, that sells a product called Odor Wand. You should be able to find them in a yellow pages search under 'pest control'.

It is completely safe and works extremely well to get out all odors, e.g., dead body smells, fuel oil, cigarette smoke, etc.

Used to cost like $50-60 a gallon. Don't need much at all per use so it will go a long way.

I'm not associated with the company but I am a fan of the product. I used to sell it under a different label name for all kinds of uses along with its typical use.
If vinegar doesn't work, try OdoBan. It costs about $10 a gallon, and you use about a cup in your wash. I use this stuff all the time in my laundry to get out body odors from clothes (esp. the boys stinky sports stuff) and with sheets (I had a bed wetter for years). I've even used it for carpet cleaning to get out pet odors. I buy it everytime I make a trip to Sam's Warehouse. It's my laundry lifesaver.
I agree with heartson. You have to kill the mildew. I only use white bath towels and that way I can put in a little bleach.
Hot water and Tide. Its the very best at removing smell. Dry them thoroughly
use a little lemon ammonia in your wash water---works like a acharm and leaves no odor behind
