Our bath towels are the only part of our laundry that smell moldy, or mildewy. Is there something I can wash them with that will help the smell go away??How to I get moldy smell out of our bath towels?
Add 1/4 cup white vinegar to the wash. It kills mold/mildew, acts as a fabric softener and deodorizes. How to I get moldy smell out of our bath towels?
Wash with some bleach in the water and DRY THEM COMPLETELY! Not getting them dry is why they pick up mildew.
Are you not allowing them to dry completely before putting them away? Wash them in hot water, cold water rinse. You should be able to use your regular detergent. Let them dry completely before folding and puting away.
I would think bleach , but if they are colored towels. Then a detergent that would have bleach in it but safe for colors.
Also with your towels, after a shower do you hang them up to dry or just throw them in the dirty laundry. That could be the problem there too.
Add some scented fabric conditioner into your wash - they'll smell great. :-)
bleach if they are white towels oxy clean them if they are colored.i buy the oxy clean in a huge tud and add 1 scoop to every load of darks i do.
Are they allowed to dry thoroughly between usings? A good wash in HOT water with your usual detergent should help. Do be aware that hot water may cause some shrinkage and running of colors. Also, try soaking them in rinse water with some tea tree oil added to it. Tea tree oil tends to kill mold/mildew.
They make all kinds of pine cleaners. They work wonders. I particularly like the Blue Lysol. It smells so good.
Don't add a lot !!!!!! Just an ounce or two to a load.
Mildew smell results if your towels were not thoroughly dried and/or were left in the washer or dryer either wet or not fully dried.
Re-wash the towels with Tide - put them into the dryer as soon as possible - certainly within 12 hours - and make sure they are fully dry before folding them.
Try hot water. I have found that that smell is often caused by not putting towels in the dryer right away after you wash them.
Otherwise, buy new towels.
You can use bleach in the wash...a little goes a long way. Then hang them outside on the line to dry. If this doesn't work, put vinegar in the wash...that should definitely do the trick! Good luck!
Sometimes the moldy smell will be coming from your washing machine. That was happening at our house. To get great smelling fresh laundry just add a cop of Borax to each load of laundry. It makes all the difference!
Presoak in twice the amount of detergent and Triple strength Oxiclean liquid stain fighter.
Use hot water, and dry on a hot cycle. Do NOT
use fabric softener, as it will reduce the towel's absorbency. Be sure the towels are dry before you fold them, not just hot from the dryer. Where do you store your towels? Could be that place needs a good cleaning. Unwrap a bar of bath soap, and place it on the shelf with the towels,
to help the area smell clean. Allow towels to dry
thoroughly after using, or use once and wash.
We do not reuse towels in my home; a load of towels is washed daily.
First, lay them outside in the sun for a day to completely air out and dry out. Then wash them with baking soda and detergent. That should do the trick!
go buy some new towels
After using your towel麓s if you use them more than once , make sure you leave them near an open widow to get air, The sunlight kill麓s of mildew and mold %26amp; by adding lemon juice and leaving to dry in before washing them will help rid this problem
