Because they get wet, providing a nice place for fungi and bacteria spores to land and grow. After about a week or two they grow enough to start producing fairly pungent odors.
Also when you dry off with a towel dead skin cells are transfered from your body to the towel providing food for those fungi and bacteria. Why do we wash bath towels if we use them after we are clean?
Because although you are so called clean by using the towel you wipe off thousands of skin cells onto it which after a short time take on a life of their own so to speak lol...Why do we wash bath towels if we use them after we are clean?
because even though we are clean..our bodies do shed skin cells which cause the towels to be dirty...plus whatever bacteria comes from having a damp towel around.
We wash them because they collect body soil and who knows what else. Think about it, you dont wash a towel for say about a month. Do you know how much bacteria and dirt collect on that towel, and Im pretty sure you dry your face with it. Do you want feet and butt bacteria on your face after you think you are clean, I think not.
Because... clean is relative.
Just because someone is 'clean', doesn't mean I want to rub my face on all of their '2000 parts'.
They still a little moldy when they dry after you hang them up. I know my towels need a wash at least weekly if they're not all gukky from something my daughter gets into or my husband after he's worked on the Jeep.
not we are not clean.. and a damp towel in a humid bathroom it a breading ground for all kinds of yuckies
Because when you wipe yourself dry, you are defoliating a lot of skin cells onto the towel. Bugs love dead skin cells!!
That is a good question. I guess it is to keep them clean because after they get wet, they would get smelly and gross since we wipe our bodies with them.
Exactly why do people steal those toot picks from restaraunts? They are perfectly good and I put them right back.
Because...They get wet and when wet towels sit around they get moldy and then they stink.
I can see your rationale though. You still sluff off dead skin and stuff when you dry off though.
backtira issues and funguss as well
becuase water stay in them
Dead skin build up on towels is an excellent media for bacterial growth.
when you druy off dead skin cells come off you your bady no matter how hard you scrub in the bath the dead skin then rots and it attracts bugs and begins to smell
Even though you are clean, the rubbing/patting of your skin by the towel would cause the towel to collect dead skin cells. Washing the towel, cleans off the dead skin cells.
because if you use them to dry off and then hang them up (or crumple them in a corner like my fiance does) they start to smell. If you wash them and dry them either in a dryer or by hanging them up outside then they get to be fresh and clean (and not ridden with bacteria)
thats a funny question because they make contact with your inner body
For the same reason that you don't eat food off the floor even after you just mopped it. You can't see the ';real'; dirt.
Clean is good.. when towels are dirty u might on a accident....(not even knowing it) Might pick up a dirty towel and wipe ur face and that certain person wiped off his/her body with it.. =P
eeew. my friend doesnt wash his.. my when i use my towel - i get right in my but-crack! right on my.. well you know.. and hey.. what if you accidentally use that bit next time on your face?
It's called......HIGHEEN!
dead skin cells, mold, mildew ect...

How many times can you use a bath towel before it is ';dirty';?
Once!!!
I feel no different at home about fresh laundry/linens, than I might at a hotel.
Certainly in some measure your Q relates to ';Levels'; of ';clean'; and personal hygene habits and preferences.

The buildup of body oils, soap residue, shampoo and conditioner, house dust all provide a bacterial breeding ground that is accelerated by periodic rewetting. If daily washing is extreme, then every third day at least! How many times can you use a bath towel before it is ';dirty';?
i wash mine every two weeks.im busy.
I use mine 2-3 times before I get a new one, to wash that one.
Providing you bathe well, it shouldn't become dirty at all. However, I use mine once and then toss them in them in the hamper. I like fluffy.
Assuming that you are clean when you get out of the bath, the logic would be that the towel would never become dirty. However, if hanging on a towel rack drying, it would collect dust and pollutants from the air. Many factors would play in to determine when it is actually time to wash.
Once.
Although you are drying a ';Clean'; body you are actually removing dead skin cells.
Until there are enough dead skin cells on it to clone a person. Ha Ha Ha! Just joking; really, I use mine 3-4 times. But be sure you have a system so you don't use the butt end on your face :-p
well, I do change towels every moday and thursday... Not because they get dirty, but I love the smell of a clean, soft towel!
Great question!! :)
I wash my towels once a week. I think that's ok because I'm drying off a clean body and hair.
are you dirty after a shower... lol
I wash mine at least once a week. Sometimes twice, but generally once.
I will use mine at least 4 times before I wash it. After taking a bath/shower you should be clean, so you are just drying off with the towel and then hopefully hanging it on the towel rack to dry. Washing towels or anything very much will wear stuff out quicker.
I have used mine up to a week. .....tossed them in the dryer and fluffed them back up during that time. I like the clean smell of soap and stay away from products that are loaded with fragrances .......depending on how well one rinses....these products can remain on the towel. Your question was a good one....I've often wondered about that....thanks
Rotate weekly, however, it depends on how often you use the towels... how humid the climate/season.
When laundering towels, machine wash in warm water with similar colors. Be sure to wash brand new towels before use, to remove any excess dye from deeptone and brilliant colors. Always wash dark colors separately, and avoid chlorine bleach. Tumble drying will enhance the softness of your towels. Remove dry towels promptly from your dryer, shake them out, and fold.
Do NOT use fabric softeners or dryer sheets on your towels! Washing in fabric softener coats the terry fibers with silicones, and will actually make towels less absorbent. To freshen towels and keep them smelling sweet, add a half cup of baking soda to the wash cycle. You'll end up with extra-fresh smelling towels!
If you're hanging your towels outdoors to dry, shake them out before hanging, and shake them again before folding. This fluffs up the terry fibers, making the towels soft and absorbent again. During summer's humid months, don't let wet towels hang in the bathroom all day. Toss them in the dryer for five or ten minutes, to speed drying. Then hang them up, and they'll dry in an hour or two. Remember that towels need more frequent laundering in warm, humid weather.
Since I don't have a bath mat near the shower I rotate towels. The one I dried with yesterday becomes the bathmat to stand on today. So I use them twice, once to dry with and once to stand on.
when it gets dry and when you pick it up and it stays the same shape and its hard and crusty
When it gets dark, so it depends on the colour......
Although it can get dump n smelly if u dont dry it properly all the times...

How many times do you use a bath towel before washing it?
Just once or do you use it couple times before washing it? I'm just wondering because I have way too much laundry all the time. 5 people in our house and I've been trying to do one load a day and it's still getting piled up.How many times do you use a bath towel before washing it?
There are four of us, each has their own towel for use after bathing (they are different colours which helps to identify which one belongs to whom) and I try to only wash them once a week.
As long as they are left out to dry on a clothes airer or on the towel rail (not left lying on the bathroom floor) they are fresh enough for a few more uses. It is a good idea to not dry any of one's private areas with the towel if it is to be used again though, they are best tried with some toilet tissue.
It would definetly cut down on your laundry big time if you encouraged more frugile use of the towels in your house. I manage to do only about four wash loads each week using my method of towel use.How many times do you use a bath towel before washing it?
When it comes to expense, using towels for the week is the way, but if you want to know what is sanitary. Changing your towel everyday is correct. Everyday that you use them, you are wiping away skin flakes, and a host of other things, that go with it. Then you let that towel dry, then wet it all over again the next time you use it wiping back over yourself each time you shower the same skin cells, and dirt. It can cause problems. especially for women who use a towel to dry between their legs, and your butt crack? if your going to use the same towel, just have two, one for your face only, and one for everything else
Thanks
I grew up in a house with 6 people, my mother taught us to do our laundry since we were around 10, that left her to do laundry for her, my dad and all the linen. I'm pretty sure that helped her a lot on the washing loads and it made us be quite responsible and aware of our laundry.
Now that I have my own home, I wash the bath towels once a week, since each of us has their own towel and no one exchanges them.
I use the same towel all week and hang it up when I am done. Look your clean when you get out of the shower/bath or dry your hair so it's not like it gets dirty. My brother who lives with me does the same. It's still a clean towel.
I wash my bath towel, hand towels, and wash clothes every week. So I use my bath towel for a week, and then I wash it.
If everyone uses their own towel, it should be fine to use it for 4 to 5 days, as long as it is hung up and thoroughly dried.
I use my towel 2 or 3 times as long as I hang it up. No point in using a new towel every single time.
just onceskin

How do you eliminate bath towel lint. I am not using fabric softner. Lint is all over the bathroom.?
A fabric softener sheet should do it. The only other option I can think of is to buy cheaper towels - may produce less lint. How do you eliminate bath towel lint. I am not using fabric softner. Lint is all over the bathroom.?
I think you answered your own question. Use fabric softner. I use liquid on clothes and the sheets on my towels. Liguid seems to rebel water from your towel when you dry off. Sheets do keep the lint in control.recipes cream

I have purchased these towels before and have now come back for some more. They are large, soft, thick and very absorbent. Even the hand towels are a good size. You won't find a better deal for the money. Just remember that they are much more absorbent if you do not use fabric softner on them!
